Cedar Falls Utilities is currently recruiting for a full-time Gas Service Technician to join our Gas & Water Operations department. This position is responsible for servicing, repairing, and adjusting all types of gas-burning appliances and equipment. This position will also locate natural gas leaks inside and outside customer premises, and perform skilled and routine tasks involving water service to customers.

The Gas Service Technician works under general supervision of the Gas Operations Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Methods, practices, equipment, and tools used by a Gas Service Technician in providing inspection, repair and adjustment on all types of natural gas-burning equipment. Skills needed to install water meters and perform other customer related water service work.
Ability to: Communicate and deal effectively with customers and establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Physical Tasks and Environmental Conditions:
This position requires a hearing exam and a pulmonary lung function test, which is required for respirator use. May be required to be fit-tested for use of a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Pre-employment drug screen and physical is required.
